Crocosaurus Cove – Air Conditioner DDC Replacement & HMI Modernisation
Controls Upgrade & HMI Modernisation
Project Snapshot
Crocosaurus Cove’s existing air conditioner control system had become outdated, inefficient and difficult to manage. The ageing DDC controller and limited operator interface reduced visibility across the system and made fault management more difficult for facility staff.
TEC upgraded the full DDC platform, improved chiller sequencing logic, and delivered a modern operator interface with updated graphics and fault diagnostics - providing better control, clearer system visibility, and improved energy efficiency.
Location: Darwin, NT
Client: Crocosaurus Cove
Sector: Commercial/Tourism
Completed: March 2022
The Challenge
Crocosaurus Cove's existing air conditioner control system was outdated and inefficient. The DDC controller was at end of life, chiller sequencing was suboptimal, and the operator interface made it difficult for the team to monitor and respond to system issues.
The facility needed a modern, reliable controls platform without disrupting daily operations.
What TEC Delivered
TEC managed the complete controls upgrade, including:
Safe disconnection and removal of the existing DDC controller
Migration and conversion of existing control logic
Targeted code improvements to optimise chiller sequencing
Development of a modern HMI and operator interface
Creation of updated front-end graphics and fault diagnostics
The new platform was designed specifically around the operational needs of the facility, improving usability, visibility, and long-term maintainability.
The Outcome
The upgraded system delivered improved efficiency, responsiveness, and maintainability of the chiller control system.
The upgraded system delivered:
Improved chiller system efficiency
Better fault visibility and diagnostics
Faster system responsiveness
More intuitive operator control
Improved long-term reliability and maintainability
The result was a modern, user-friendly controls platform that gave the facility team greater confidence and visibility in day-to-day operations.
No safety incidents occurred and operations were not impacted during works.
